Jusr ordered some Second Skin Damplifier Pro after doing some fairly extensive research...

I'm going to be putting it on myself, and was wondering if anyone has any tips/hints for working with this stuff. I keep hearing about people cutting themselves on the edges and so forth, but that's about it.

Anyone have any good pics of a Chevy front door install?

I'm going to be installing it on a OBS Tahoe on both the inner and outer parts of the front door shells so I'll post some pics up when I'm done. Can't wait.

TIA. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

getting cut with it is pretty much a given, if you can stand to work with gloves do it, I personally just grit and bear it as its not THAT bad. One great thing about the SS products is that it doesn't require to be heated up to be applied, like some of the asphalt based deadeners.

i agree getting cut is a given. youll think youre doing good, dont even know you just picked one up, then you go to grab something and its covered in blood

its all fun its not too bad. no different than bustin knuckles wrenchin

nice work atsaubrey

also not a chevy... but heres my chrysler doors. wish i woulda done the outter door shells. from outside the car you can feel my sheetmetal vibrate from the mids.

these pictures make me miss my window tint. 4 tickets in one summer FTL (every one being with my windows rolled down, except back windows only roll down half way)

I agree, Im not sure Ive ever cut myself on the stuff. I handle the edges rarely, and I let the roller/other tools do the dirty work laying it down.

Not a Chevy, but here's my dodge in progress with damp pro...

Excellent responses guys...really appreciate those pics.

For those that did their front doors, is it OK to cover the entire door skin and cover everything other then the door actuators and window mechanism?

TIeclipseMOJO- did you cover the inner side of that panel as well or just covered up that whole area completely?

Audioholic- What type of extra tools would you recommend for the project to make it a smoother and more efficient install? I was planning on picking up a couple of different sized rollers at the local hardware store, and I already have a box cutter to make the proper cuts, but were there any other tools that came in handy when you were applying the product?

And lastly, how about cleaning up the door panels before applying the second skin? I know that I’ll vacuum out any debris and wipe the doors of any grease and grime, but how about any other things that I can do to ensure a good adhesion of the product?

Thanks again fellas..I'm a littler nervous about making sure it gets done right the first time around, so hope some of you seasoned guys don't get tired with the same old questions...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I spent a couple hours doing a camry trunk with this stuff. Great, easy to work with. I also didn't cut myself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Don't sweat it, you'll do just fine...

I used damp pro on my front doors an absoluetly love it. 2 layers on the inner an 2 layers on the outter panels. Door is pretty **** solid now. I tried gloves at first because people said that it cuts up the hands, but i couldnt handle the glove sticking to it. Ended up with no cuts. As for cleaning the panels, Ive had luck with regular goof off, or anything acetone based.

IDK, it seems to me that if you do not get in a huge hurry that the chances of cutting yourself are not that great. Besides, when you are actually installing I think you need the dexterity of no gloves.

I certainly don't think you need to spend money on more than one roller. A roller helps on the larger pieces that are easy to get to, but I just used my fingers to smooth it out most of the time.

It really is one of those things that once you get started you realize that there is nothing to it.
