Second amp / Distro Block Help

Go with grandma 88s advice. The 4 ga would allow for upgrades in the future but will also put less drain on your electrical system. My wifes vehicle has a 300.1 had severe issues with dimming lights. Upgraded wire to 4ga to my dist block. Ran 6 ga to the amp as thats as thats as big as it would accept. Doing this allowed current to flow more freely and I dont have the dimming issue with the lights. You cant go wrong with larger wire.

Larger wire does not fix power system issues(unless your doing big three). You may have unknowingly address another issue during the upgrade. And dimming on a 300 watt amp may not have been normal.

WoW.....thanks for all information.........

My budget isn't as tight as my time right now, but that will change ....

I know I should go with the 4 ga, and probably will........I want to do things right and not start anything on fire......but.......

Whats the chances of me having issues with the 8 ga ?

I appreciate all the expert advice and suggestions...........that's why I'm here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Was not saying that the 8 ga was for sure tbe culprit but all else is same ground loc ect. Same amp would get warmer on the 8ga. That system needs the big three to run anything bigger amp has 2 25a fuses 70a alt.

Actually the amps will run fine on 8 gauge. The amps will not run warmer on the 8 gauge. And if the alternator is 70 amps big three wil lnot increase its amperage. Big only enables the current to travel more efficiently. One of the amps has a 20 amp fuse other has a 40amp. The amps won't pull the full 60 amps

He won't need a HO alternator for this small a set up.

OP. Big three is a good idea but may not be necassary. Wait until you get both amps in and see if you have significant dimming while engine is over 1500rpm. If so do big three in 0/1 gauge.

Like previously stated eight gauge is okay, but you should really do 4 or bigger
