Second alternator on a ford explorer

I'm soon going to be buying a 2002 or up mercury mountaineer (same engine as ford explorer)

Wanted to know if anyone has installed a second alternator on that engine?

If it's possible to fit a second alternator on the 4.0 or 4.6 liter enginge?

sure its possible but i doubt anyone mass produces dual alt brackets. probably have to be a custom job. ask around on explorer forums.

what do u guys mean when u say big three?

if u get the 4.6L its not possible to run dual alt's being that the altenator is the the top middle of the engine
