This maybe a dumb question... But I'm going to ask any way...

Saying both these are set up correct gains..

A) D4 Sub ran off an Amp (that does 4ohm, 2ohm and 1ohm) Ran off the 2ohm @ 1000w

B) D2 Sub ran off an Amp(that does just 1ohm or like above 4,2,1ohm) ran off the 1ohm @ 1000w

Which set up is easier on the Amp, Alternator, Batteries etc.... Or does it matter... Is there a Benefit to either?

Would the (A) set up be easier on the Amp because it's only pushing 2ohm rating and not the full watts @ 1ohm?

Yes, A would be better on the amp. The amp would be more efficient, and run cooler. However, the amp sees higher impedance than what you wire to anyways (at most frequencies). You see amp specs of 86% at 4 ohms, but at 1 ohm they are way less efficient. Some people wire their amps to .5 ohms or lower. A sub/box impedance rise is not linear, and the amp usually sees a much higher resistance.

If its a solid amp, why wire to 2 ohms if its 1 ohm stable? You're missing out on power.

Thanks, just got back from vacation....

I have a AB 44801.D Amp..

I'm going to run a XFL 12in Sub... Should I go with a 4Ohm or 2Ohm Sub?
