Sealing off a hole cut for a sub?

I cannot build boxes. Every time I try, I just end up wasting $40 on a sheet of MDF and about 8 hours time.

Well, the reason is that my subs are currently downfire, and the XMax is larger than the space between the box and my floorboard. So, I will be hitting the floor when I get my new amp in. I need to face them towards the seats and I have a complicated back seat, so building a box is hard for me.

Because to fit one in, it would have to be smaller than the hole correct? I was trying to figure out how to completely seal it with that in mind. Sorry for being so confusing, long day at work and getting ready to go to my other job...

Maybe do it like a sheet rock patch.

Trace the hole on another piece of wood. Cut it out the screw the circle onto a new baffle then screw the new baffle onto the box. That way it's smooth inside the box.

The goal is to get them to stop hitting my floorboards every time the hit. And I did try rigging shims, out plywood first, then a nylon block. Plywood broke, nylon deformed from constant pressure. So I was back to where I started. Also, on shims, it slides around bad.

why don't you get metal brackets.. thick ones.. and use a few.. and secure the box so it doesn't slide..
