Sealed Box Volume

I would like to know how to determine what is the best volume for a sealed sub box for an Alpine Type-R 10" 2-OHM (SWR-1022D). I plan on pairing it up with a Kicker/MTX/Alpine sub that will run 500 RMS.

I've read that sealed ensclosures call for more power, just wondering how much more I need. I am looking for good clean bass that will sound excellent with my front stage. I don't need it for down the block. For the record, I am planning on doing two of these enclosures built directly into my 07 Dodge Magnum's rear floor.

Go to alpine's website, look at the manual, read what the recommended enclosure volume is.

Sealed enclosures are said to be able to handle more power "The smaller enclosure increases mechanical power handling but doesnt increase the thermal power handling." - Eric Stevens

But it does not mean that the subwoofer requires more power. You will be fine with powering the sub at recommended specifications. Just fine.

mixing subs is a bad idea. I would suggest getting a more SQ oriented subwoofer for a sealed system rather than using an spl sub like the type-r

Linkz...can you name a few middle of line options?

MB quart is pretty cheap right now. they don't get very loud however. But good SQ. And they only need 1cuft give or take per driver.

I'm thinking of doing a build with 4 of the 15" drivers.
