Sealed box Firing direction

So for now I'm gonna build my own box until I can get a custom one made for my application. The box will be sealed and the only reason I'm doing this is to get rid of the awful looking box I have now. Currently I'm running a 12 inch in a sealed box firing down in a 15 cc Silverado behind the front center console. Before I build a new box I have a very limited amount of space and can fit ~ 1.25 cuft firing down as I can raise it to have space for the sub. The other would be a rear or front firing but this would only allow a ~1 cuft box as I would need space for the driver to move and not be suffocated. I'm not able to experiment because the 1.25 would be to big to have front or rear firing as I only have W x D as 14.5 and 13 max to play with. In its current df I'm happy with its performance but just curious if rear or front in a truck would enhance or detract from volume, low end bass, and the alignment (not sure on wording) in regards to the other speakers?

Kinda like this. Mine won't be this awesome looking lol

I'd stay with down firing, it tends to work out better in ec/cc trucks. You usually want to take the route that nets the biggest box size, so that's a double bonus.
