I have some Crossfire SQ6's that I made a sealed enclosure for... there's hardly any volume to the box, and they don't sound that great... matter of fact they sound bad. They distort extremely easly, with little to no bass. I'm disapointed as i was hoping a sealed box would help increase that.

could they have too little air space? Should I open up the enclosure?

I'm running them off the IVA-D310 for the time being untill i get the rack for my 300/4 built.

from my experience with speakers, mids tend to like IB more than anything. My MBQ's hate being sealed
IB = Infinite Baffle? Which means free air?

the only reason I sealed them( this is probally going to sound stupid ) is I heard a set of focals sealed off a small amount of power and they ****ing railed. It sounded like there was a sub on as well, but I can personally testify there was not //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yes, IB = Infinate Baffe, but not free air.
IB is when there's a panel seperating the front of the speaker from the back. Free air is just having the speaker sitting on the table. Some mids just dont like being sealed, and apparently, the focals do. If you're set on sealing them, use a larger enclosure.
to clarify, IB NEEDS the front of cone to be completly sealed from back of speaker. that why you don't see alot of people doing it cuz it's hard as hell to get your reardeck sealed from your trunk

Great, I learned something, thank you for the explination.

I'm not set on sealing them at all, the only reason I did so was I was under the impression I would get better sound...

These are in my doors (obviously) so I think I'll try cutting the rear of the box out and see how that effects it... I sure hope it helps cuz Its not fun to rebuild this box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
