sealed 15" type r

i just hooked up my friends new 15" type r running at 1ohm powered by the pa1800db. we were going to build a ported box but we put it in a 2.5cuft sealed box and it wasnt nearly as loud as i expected. is it because its in a sealed box? i used walmart rca as a quick fix but i wouldnt think it would take away that much spl. i can turn the sw level up on the hu and can turn the gain up a little bit more.

will there be a pretty big difference in a 2.55cuft sealed compared to a 2.75cuft @ 32hz?

My type r and im pretty sure most others didnt like sealed...itd be night and day between it sealed and ported
