mainly because everyone uses their screwdrivers as pry tools or misc things like that outside their normal function. You want one that has hard plastic so you can reef on it without breaking the connection between the metal and plastic. Bought a cheap rubber set once, used it once for prying something, broke with little pressure so yeah craftsman.

some sears stuff is, I have 60 yrs worth of craftsman tools from my dad and grandpa and you can definitely tell a difference in the new stuff. but its still all i buy.

That's why you buy the old **** on ebay. You get twice as much as this made in China bullshit.

Oh and P. S. Chisels work great for banging around with a hammer, and pry bars work great for prying. You should generally avoid wailing on plastic with a metal hammer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

How about... instead of going threw a bunch of screwdrivers... you just buy a chisel and a pry-bar and use the tools for what they are meant? This is just stupid....

I work on **** all the time, if you do to, you can't tell me you've never used a screwdriver for any purpose other than to screw screws.

Be plenty easy to give examples, but one would be lossening the ring around a top terminal battery. little twist of the flat head is all it takes, I'm not busting out a dam prybar for that.

To me if you have a tool that can do the job and you go buy a tool meant to do the job, that is a waste of money, and I'm not rich. I've used screwdrivers so many times for so many different reasons I can't even count. Got the job done, and I saved money on buying (the right tool for the job). I'm happy but to each their own, if you got money to blow I agree get the right tools for the job. If you don't then maybe my suggesting of thinking about getting a more durable tool in case you have a situation that calls for one isn't the worst advice ever given.

Geez you guys are like little girls fighting over this topic? Name calling and insults is unncessary. I agree that he shouldn't really be using it as other tools but even myself have used screw drivers and flat head as other functions. I just never messed any of them up though even using them to hammer stuff.

Not everybody has the luxury of having all the tools. Let alone a nice snap on tool box loaded with a variety of tools. Hell some people don't even have tools.
