Screwdrivers

How about... instead of going threw a bunch of screwdrivers... you just buy a chisel and a pry-bar and use the tools for what they are meant? This is just stupid....
Umm yeah... I don't want to carry a chisel and a pry bar around in a portable tool box....

when i was young i would use flat head screw drivers for prying things, and they would bend, or you hammer them and the handle breaks.

now i use chisels and pry bars for that stuff so i don't waste my investment in nicer screwdrivers.

you can get screwdrivers with end caps made for hammering and hex shafts that resist bending.

a Wonderbar is light and is perfect for the portable tool box, and costs less than $10. every tool box should have one, IMO it's only like 8" long.

if you work on stuff all the time, then accumulating chisels and pry bars is just natural.

Klein makes my favorite screwdrivers. But I also have Stanley and Craftsman sets that are both new and 20 years old.

i did pick this up, and i do like using it

for sale for $15 at Lowe's. it's a nice set and it does work as advertised and is much faster. my set has the small and large drivers with the bit set for both (lacks hex drivers).

Could I hit that with a hammer to chisel the deck of my engine block, though? Will it cut zip ties?

You are free to do whatever you want. I recommend against it, and clearly you're trying to prove a point. However I don't recall ever saying anything about using a screwdriver to sculpt metal or anything ridiculous like that. I simply very simply pointed out hey you might want to think about a screwdriver that has a good handle/metal if you want one versatile enough to conquer other tasks.

There are actually parts of cars that require you to use a flathead for something other than it's recommended purpose of screwing. For instance those tabs that hold a wheelwell gaurd in place. You may have trouble getting a pry bar in there, matter of fact the manual will say to use a flathead screwdriver. So I just keep winning, and you just keep making absurd comments

I'm pretty sure all craftsman have a lifetime warranty, but I've been told a lot of the stores do some bullshit where you have to mail it to someone to get a replacement. Like 2/6 stores in my area will give you a replacement in store.
