screw heads broken

Today I replaced my stock speakers in my 2000 grand prix with re 5.25s. As i was reinstalling the new speaker, two of the screw heads snapped off...now the speaker sounds horrible. Is it possible that this is the sole reason why it sounds so bad? and is it possible to get the screws out without the head...frustrating the hell out of me and i dont know what to do. If anyone could help me id appreciate it. thanks

take the speaker out and use a pair of vice grips
