Screen brightness with the top down

I replaced the Bose in my 2008 Miata with a Kenwood DNX692 with sat and nav. The stereo is awesome compared with the factory Bose. Am using the factory Bose amp and speakers as I tried replacing the speakers with less than successful results and went back to the Bose speakers. My only issue is that I can not see the screen with the top down which virtually makes the unit unusable. With sunglasses on it is totally blank. Without you can occasionally see enough to make changes. I have tried 2 different plastic overlays that are supposed to help but did little if anything.

Am to the point of reinstalling the factory radio.

Does anyone out there know of a unit that can be seen in a convertible?
