I know there are some of you out there. I'm going to look at an 07 tC tomorrow and I'm pretty sure it's what I may be purchasing within the next week because it seems to be just PERFECT. I had some questions for you all though.

Where is the alternator? LOL kinda sad it's an issue, but from the pictures it looks like it's at the top of the bay, bottom left.

How easy is it to run wires for comps? I may finally get the chance to run some comps if they are easy to install (it's a nightmare just trying to get the door panels off of my car).

Are there any stock grommets to run a 1/0 through?

How big is the hatch? It looks big enough from the pictures.

And finally, how would you rate the "mod-ability" of this car? Looks pretty f-ing easy and sweet to me.

if your standing at the front of the car, its on the left side, in front of the engine itself, nearest to you. It's just to the left of the header.

the rubber pieces housing the wires that go into the door are very easy to fish wires through. I ended up taking some 4 awg wire and tieing the smaller gauge wire to it and then push it through the rubber pieces. very easy. The door panels take like 2 minutes to take off. 1 screw behind the door handle, and 2 more behind the part of the door that you hold on to, and then a bunch of clips that come apart when you pull the door panel. sounds complicated, but it really isnt.

yes, there are 2 rubber grommets going trhough the firewall. 1 is just above the brake pedal, the other is behind the glove box. I've seen 2 runs of 1/0 go through each of these grommets before (custom fab'd 32 Eu700 subs in the eD shop car). See the links below.

the back is nice. Plenty of room to do whatever you want. If you feel like removing the spare, that whole area under the carpetting is just begging for a humongous ported box to be fiberglassed in. Be aware that most box designs will eliminate the back seat reclining ability though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

This car is easy as hell to work on. I've done TONS of mods, and they can all be done by you and a buddy in an afternoon. the hardest things that i've done were all suspension related. the front swaybar was a pain in the *** because you have to drop the lower engine cradle and the rear springs are just a pain in the *** in general. other than that, everything was easy.

x2...

Moddability (is this a word?) is a big plus for the Scion tC.

Toyota made the Scion brand spefically for the tuner demographic. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Awesome. I'm loving this car already and I'm almost certain I'm going to buy it if my budget allows it. For around 16k, I don't think you can beat this. . . I was also looking at the scheduled maitenance for this car and I was like holy shit, basically all oil/filter changes up to 120k and that's when the spark plugs would be replaced (whoop de ****ing do) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

first three oil changes are free too :p

after that, it's easy to change the oil yourself. The oil drain plug is easy to get at.

transmission fluid changes are simple too.

it does have its downsides though. the rear hatch area rattles and the sunroof rattles. nothing a little expanding foam couldnt fix though. 160 horsepower is kinda low IMO. it's a 2,900 lb car, 160 is pushing it. It could use another 30 or so (basically what i've gotten through my performance mods).

If you need the extra hp, Turbonetics makes a turbo for the tC that pushes the hp to about 250 I believe. Only problem is it costs $5000

I own a Mazda3 btw.

Oh, I forgot to ask, what is the stock alt rated at?

And by "mod-ability", I didn't mean performance mods, I meant audio mods. I can already see it's very well suited for that with the factory grommets, easily accessed alt, and standard double din opening. The cover for it is a great feature also.

I also don't care much about performance. This car will surely be quick enough for me, not to mention having a 140+ lbs of stereo equipment in the hatch doesn't really help. I would never consider an MX-5, too small and it's gotta trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

yeah, they are a 4-2-1 design that flows into a mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust with all the convertors removed and 36" of resonators welded in their places (would rasp like hell otherwise).

TRD also has a supercharger option that comes out to ~4k+ after install and a reflash of the ECU.

alternator is 90 amps.

Neothin, that was a great post. I would +rep you.

I built a tC online the other day at work, bored; Mine came to the low $20's, though. Are you buying it stock? There's neat stuff to add, and I thought that was pretty much the point? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

keep in mind though, most things can be bought in the aftermarket world for a heck of alot cheaper than what the dealer charges.

For instance, the $300 interior lighting kit that the dealer has, I put together my own kit-

2289995_59_full.jpg

It costed me about $100 and 1 saturday to light my entire interior.

the only options i would get would be the floormats and cargo liner, because they're just awesome. The carpet can come out of the front mats for those snowy/slushy winter days that you might run in to and don't want to get your carpet are messed up (not that i would ever experience that living in florida!).

the most horsepower i've seen thus far was a turbo'd shop car running 400+ whp when spraying nitrous. It eventually broke a rod though. people are running 250-300 whp daily with one of the 4 or so turbo kits available with no problems except for the stock clutch giving out quickly. the cool part though, if you do blow an engine up, you just have to stop by a junkyard and find a 4 cyl camry, rav4, highlander, or another tc to get a replacement. All these cars run the 2az-fe
