School Project. SUB BOX. Please Help! answer some questions for me

Hello everyone, I study in England and I'm doing Design and Technology A-level course.

I choosen to do a car subwoofer box for my final project. My idea is to make a very small

subwoofer box which would help to save space in teenagers car and have the same efficiency

as the big ones. I am planning to use two 8'' subs for this project.

My project has to be aimed to some prototype of a client

If you could answer some questions for me, that would be great..

1) Do you think subwoofers take to much free space in your car?

2) Would want to buy something like my idea of a subwoofer box?

3) What materials do you think I should use for my sub box?

Maybe you could make some suggestions for me. Any help will be appreciated.

1) Yes, they can take up a lot of space in some situations but is usually worth it.

2) Your idea is not new and not that practical. You need to look into Hoffman's Iron Law. It says that you can only have two of the following qualities: low-end extension, high efficiency, and small box size. So if you make a small enclosure that is efficient it will **** at low end which is not what people that buy subs want. 3) 3/4" MDF is the norm in enclosure building.

instead of making a smaller box, maybe you could design it so it doesnt use as much usable space, maybe so it wraps around the back and sides and is much shallower or tucked into a wheel-well/corner

He'll do your homework for you lol, otherwise a properly designed ported enclosure for 2 8"s is something most people have never heard so you might get this done pretty easily.
