Hello, I'm new to this forum and the audio world. I just hate the fact that there isn't a lot of hight end audio stores carrying any high end brand. I've purchased all my equipments base on extensive research and other audiophile's opinions. Ok, back to the subject, I've heard that the Scan Speak R2904/7000 is one of the best tweeters out there, it creates a smooth and liquidy sound. From what I've read at DIYaudio forum, other people called it "other worldly". I'm thinking ordering a pair of these, can anyone post an impression if you've heard it?

This is what I have:

Rainbow vanadium phase plug (haven't put it in yet)

Mcintosh MX4000/MDA4000

Mcintosh M431M amp (4 x 100 watt)

The question is, how should I set up the scan speak? Let me rephrase that, what is the proper way to set up these without blowing it? (it's just pricey!)

Uhh... Never heard it but heard decent things about it.

The proper way to set it up is to make sure that you are :

1. Not sending it too much wattage.

2. Making sure the wattage you are sending it is not clipped.

3. Making sure you cross them over at a decent enough point so too much low frequency isn't going to get to the tweeter...

wedoca-DIY or ECA(Elite Car Audio) would be the place to ask. The majority of members over here are not running stuff like Scan Speak, Peerless, Vifa, Seas, Dayton, Dyns, DIYMA, Aura and others like these. There are some but not many.IMO

Do a search on DIY or ask the question over there.IMO

Indeed I do what I can.

There are some very knowledgeable people here on this forum. Most of them hide out and lurk around. It is too bad that there are so many n00bx who don't know their anus from their elbow... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

out of every tweeter I've owned/tested...

none have come close on axis...off axis it sucks...

I could use any tweeter in the world and I'll choose this everytime and it is why it's in my car....I have 480 watts to each tweeter and they love it....

I just looked at the Freq Response charts and you can EASILY see why they are not so good off axis... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
