i HAD a Laserdisc player. sold it at a garage sale last summer for 125$

~came with T2 movie. and the buyer was convinced it would be worth a shit load more in the near future.

I'm almost tempted to scoop up a Toshiba HD DVD player, they've dropped to like $125 w/ 7 movies...tempting...but I think I may just wait it out and explore a PS3/Blu Ray player in the future...

Someone just came out with a player that handles both formats.I guess if they drop HDDVD then I'll just have to use the up conversion on the standard movies.

I had one in HS. A Pioneer. They were cumbersome(much like LPs) But compared to VHS, a world of difference. My GF dad had the LD player where the disc were in sleeves(like a mini disc cartridge). It was ancient.
