am a mod.
ok, so today, i worked on the car again. not having a job anymore makes this quite easy
so i took the words you all gave me (bean lol) and i fabbed up a new battery mount that isnt as ghetto. i also took my trunk apart (again) and put a good solid layer of spectrum on it (about to swap it with the old trunklid and swap the locks on it). i got some brass barstock from the store, and im in the process of fabbing up some new buss bars to take the top-mount leads down to the side (beacuse GM is gay, and kinetik should have both )
so i marked up the brass, chopped it with my hacksaw (because my bansaw is out of comission) and got that all ready to drill, and bend and install. i will wrap the entire bussbar with heatshrink tubing to be on the safe side, cept for the extreme ends where the terminals are. and i will cover the top posts of the battery with a flap of neoprene
it dosnt look like i did much today, but i also cleaned up my garage (wich REALLY needed it) and hopefully in these next few days, ill be taking apart the second door to the car anr working with the kits *sigh*
pics, as always;
the battery with its new aluminum bar and allthread retainers. (and yes, the bus bars and the aluminum bracket will be seperated by a 1\4" layer of neoprene as well)
here is the left side, as you can see down at the bottom there were stock 6mm little clips that they screwed into. i went to the store and they didnt have 6mm allthread
so i picked up some 5\16th - 18 allthread, and told the guy i was looking for those
threaded clips. he whipped some out of the back, and they fit perfectly! i somehow pried the old ones off (wich was hard because there is a little locking clip built into them) and somehow managed to squeeze both hands down there to put the new ones on.
spectrum on the trunklid between the lid and the 'panel' thing that goes there (where the liscenseplate is)
heres the panel that goes in the spot in the pictures above
the side of the panel you will see (if you cant imagine what it is)
heres the brass buss bar that is all marked for bending and drilling
i also foundout that one of the upper-door sills was damaged somehow. theres a huge crack in there, so it looks like ill be getting some ABS filler to fix that, and repaint the front
and lastly, my girlfriend's father's 1965\56 mustang with a rebuilt engine (289 - >302-4spd changeout iirc) the garage collapsed on it and crushed the roof. just got done with the bodywork, and is just skimming it and sadning the paint off to get ready to repaint. got a few more dings and i get to fiberglass the interior console!!
