SA series vs 1500 series

F*ck it, we'll do it live
I have a friend who doesn't seem to understand that sundown audio is a very reputable company, he seems to think DD makes the ultimate, insurmountable subwoofer and he will accept NO other opinion.

this is most likely due to nuthugging that he's seen on other forums talking about how DD is THE best car audio company currently not gone bankrupt.

My question is simple is a sundown SA-10/12/15 a better subwoofer (price considered) than a DD1510/12/15?

In my opinion, I'm pretty sure that off of 1000w, the SA series would perform JUST as well as the 1500 series.

Hah.

For price, SA for sure. IMO the SAs should be compared to the 2500 series. Pretty sure Id personally feel better throwing more power at the SA though. Havnt taken too deep a look at the DDs but I know the SAs have good cooling. Plus recones are silly cheap.

I would take the sa over the 1500 any day....better priced and I'm sure will be louder....also I won't cost u a kidney and maybe 15 pints of blood for a recone

Sa wins forsure.....dd is not the best company....shitt I would take anything ssa over dd any day of the week

x2

If all goes planned, the system will be

MB Quart ONX1.1000d

SA-12 d2

Knu 4ga wiring kit

and a 2cuft box tuned to ~32hz

should be a very solid 1st system

The SA is in the 2500 "category" as far as company ratings -- you'll find the SA has more bottom end output. Dealers that carry both Sundown and DD report to me that the SA line is also more rugged as far as maximum power handling capacity as well.

Depending on application you may burp louder / play louder at a higher frequency (50+ Hz) as the 2500 uses a pretty stiff suspension and light coil. This type of sound is interpreted as "punchy" and some people prefer one sound or the other.

i have no comment seen 4 12's dd with two 4500sa amps they were banging pretty loud in a trail blazer. also seen some 12in sa 4 of them flex an suv im just //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gif

the SA is by far a more "musical" sub. the FS is way lower and it LOVE to be tune to take advantage of that. They are a much better value for $ and incase you do kill it, the recones are also better value for $.

IMO the SA hands down! Now how is that for nut huggin'?

personally id pick the sa over the 1500 series but in comparison to the 2500 id go dd. i threw 1800w daily to my dd2510 for about a 2 months before it gave up, but i think the sa would do the same. my z12s take a beating that for sure.
