Sa-8 ported enclosure ?

Perhaps you should go to the Sundown site and read...Jacob recommends 0.6 to 1.1 ported per driver.
With that said, 1.5 should be perfect for a pair of them.
Cant find the post where he went back and said .6 is the biggest recommended on any power level...but I know for a fact that came from Jacob himself after a few people were destroying them in higher power applications with larger boxes.

Don't the new one have the bolted down spider ring to prevent the failure that the early models had?

SSA store says

"We suggest 0.6 - 1 cube ported tuned to 30-40 hz based on your goals and preferences. Sealed can be utilized but is not optimal for these drivers."

but then woofersetc.com says

"The SA-8 features one of the strongest ferrite motors available on any 8" woofer on the market today. Due to this fact they MUST be utilized in no more than 0.5 to 0.6 cubic foot vented enclosures (or 0.2 to 0.3 cubic foot sealed enclosures) for daily usage. The powerful motor can easily drive the cone and spider to mechanical damage in larger enclosures -- in order to ensure long life and reliability our recommended enclosure size is a necessity"

sundown just joined wooferetc not too long ago so theirs is probably more accurate

SA-8 Power vs. Box Size - SSA Car Audio ForumPost #4.

Yes I believe the revision to the suspension was to make it handle the abuse a bit better than it was...but when you're feeding an 8" woofer over RMS and too large of a box, its still well, abuse. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Hm, I guess I stand corrected. Never saw that post.

The failure most of the first gen ones had was a ripping spider or a spider separating from the basket from too much mechanical movement though.

So 1.0cu.ft. tuned to 35Hz is better with running this amp.

I had seen the 0.6-1.0 in my findings, so I had thought 1.5 wasa good in between. I DO NOT want to destroy these subs

what about 200-400 over rated?
For each woofer? I'd stick with 1.25ft^3 total. Go with too small of a box and you're sacrificing you're response curve too much. 1ft^3 will handle the power better, but the low-end will start to fall off too early for me...not to mention it's just damn hard trying to get adequate port area and a decent tuning without having a long ass port.

the sub models ugly in winisd any size u use, and there is very little difference between 1 and 1.25 according to winisd

Alright RAM Designs I will go back to the drawing board and come up with a 1.25ft^3 total ported enclosure.

Now is the 1.25ft^3 total after the placement of the subs or before, as I have read the subs are 0.10 each

The SA series can handle a good deal over rated power. Having an extra 200 watts on tap for the pair isn't really going to give reason to shrink the box size down. I'd still go in the 1.25-1.5ft^3 range.

Not tryin to prove you wrong but just getting it out there that Jacob himself has revised those box specs. They need to update the site to reflect that though.
