SA-8 impedance

I recently got a SA-8 sub from a buddy of mine because he found something bigger, but he didn't know what the ohms were on the voice coil. I know it can be either D2 or D4, but I'm wondering if there are some distinguishing features that I can use to figure out which of the two it is?

Are there any ways to visually distinguish it? And if not, is there a safe way to ballpark the impedance with a multimeter or something?

Thanks!

You sure that's right though? Every result I got on google that mentioned that was overrun with people saying you needed an o-scope and resistors and other stuff, and I'm just trying to get some clarification.

nope, that's all you have to do to get an ohm reading. You might be reading about settings gains, clamping an amp, or some other measurement.

for 2 ohm sub, it will read around 1.3 ohms or so. a 4 ohm sub will read about 3.6.
