This will be in about a 1.25ft3/chamber sealed box.

PLANET AUDIO RXD2400 amp

RE AUDIO MX12 x 2

I'm not looking for advice on SPL or SQL. Just your thoughts on this amp, with this driver, in this box. I would look for a stronger amp, but I don't think my car's electricals can take any more (SLK55).

thanks.

edit: after taking some measurements in my trunk with the hardtop down, I'm left with 14"x13"x13". the shape of the trunk is all funky, with a retangularish shaped box, that's all I have left. Which means there's no way I can get 2 12's in there.... Would the 12" RE XXX do well with a sealed box that would fit? I'd need a fully custom box with bracing for all that extra motor/magnet/basket weight of the XXX. Can anyone get me contact with a local Houston cabinetmaker that could do this?

The RE XXX subs require a ton of airspace in order to perform to their full potential. I know RE's public listed airspace recommendation states otherwise, but their numbers are WAY off. If your space is truly as limited as you say, I suggest you look elsewhere.

@ 14"x13"x13" with 3/4" mdf, you'll have 1-ish cubes before displacement. If you insist on running an RE sub, you'll be better off with a single SE 10".

EDIT: Just remembered how small the SLK-55 really is. I think custom fiberglass work might be your best option. It would allow you to maximize the space within the cockpit. Maybe a custom center console that houses a beefy 8" sub and some door pods to house a pair of 3-way components. It seems like you want to go big, but the size of your vehicle limits your options. If you want to go "big" in that vehicle, it'll take quite a bit of ingenuity, fabrication and money...

Any custom cabinet makers or nice shops in the houston area that you could recommend.

I'm now leaning towards the SunDown 2000D and either the RE 12" XXX or MX series. Any advice? Space is at such a premium in my miniscule trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
