Running yellow light illegal in California?

Today in the morning I ran through a yellow light at intersection turning left. About halfway through I noticed a light flashing (it may be the camera). So is it illegal to run a yellow light?

Suppose I get the ticket in the letter, how do I go about proving that I did not run a red light (assuming that running yellow light is legal)?

And I do not have the front license plate on.

With that assumption...and if it's true the fact that you have multiple screens visible from the driver's seat (which is illegal in almost every state in the union) you're worried about a ticket for running an amber signal? The screens are not deployed nor on.

So yellow lights = red lights ?

I cannot say as I do not live in California and being a Louisianian gives me little opportunity to traverse the public roadways in the Golden State (last time I was there was in '91) but here running an amber signal is illegal though the fine for it isn't as stiff as running a red signal.

Maybe it is the same where you are though I cannot say with any degree of certainty.

In Cali, your rear tires must be into the intersection before the light turns red for it to be legal.

As far as you not having a front plate. They figured that out as well. There are multiple cameras that take pics of the rear of your car as well, so if they don't get you for the red light, you'll be cited for no front plate.

We can run yellow lights here in TN. Our definition is "proceed with caution" not slow down or stop.

Going through an intersection with a yellow light is NOT illegal. Green means go, Red means stop, yellow means get ready to stop, unless it's a blinking yellow which means proceed with caution. This is worldwide too. So if a cop ever tries to give you a ticket for going through a yellow light, go to court, because apparently that cop doesn't know the law.

The light turned red from yellow when I am halfway through the intersection. So it means that I am safe, but I may get the ticket for the lack of front license plate?

And do they review the pictures/video before sending out ticket ?

Get the front plate... Duh.... Unless you are fortunate enough to live in a state where you don't need two plates... Damn Ohio....

if you cannot run a yellow light then whats the point of a yellow ? and yellow means get ready to close your eyes when the light turns red! where i live we have about 3-4 second yellow lights its actually pretty hard to get stuck at a red light unless you have a ton of traffic around //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
