Running speakers off amp and hu

I want to know if it is possible to run a set of speakers off of an amp and then run another set off the head unit at the same time.

I want to run a front compset powered by a 4 channel amp bridged and i want to run another comp set in the rear off of the headunit.

would it be possible to run the tweets off the front 2 channels of the HU and then run the mids off the rear 2 channels?

i guess what i want to know is; does the amp in the HU still operate when the preouts are in use?

Yes it can be done! Of course, if you are running insane power to your subwoofers, prepare for a setup that sounds like utter shite!

unless you are using some sort of external processing, which would be kinda pointless using only hu power, this will not work. you can run a mid/tweet with it's own passive crossover off one channel and same for the right, using only the front or rear hu outputs.

Many passive crossovers are just a couple of snips away from being ready for bi-amplification, assuming they weren't made that way to begin with. This, of course, assumes that one knows what they are doing.

Another option would be for the OP to design his own 6dB passive networks. Then again, no matter how you slice it or dice it.... It is all kind of pointless for head unit power that generally ranges from 5 to 15 watts RMS per channel. The 50 watts MAX x 4 stated on his Pioneer is a pipe dream at best!

ok well actually what i want to do is run a pair of 6x9's and a pair of tweets off the hu for the rear setup. then run my 4 channel bridged to the front speakers utilizing all of the pre outs from my HU.

The 6x9's have tweets in them but are mounted under a thick board through which upper frequencies are muffled, hence why i want to add tweets as well (tweets will be placed in the stock rear door tweet location and the 6x9's will go in the stock rear shelf locations).

but basically all that i really wanted to know is if the hu amp fully works even if the pre outs are fully used.

From what i understand it does, so i should be able to do what i want without any issues.

I have xovers for the tweets and i also have the xovers from a comp set that the tweets came from so i can low pass the 6x9's if i want to leaving all the highs to come from the satellite mounted tweeter.
