running active w/ cd2 horns, what mids?

I planning on purchasing a set of image dynamics CD2 comp horns and an Eclipse cd8445 ($300 shipped buy-it-now brand new on eBay)

I have roughly ~170-200 watts @ 2ohms for the mids from a DLS A5 amplifier, would the new Dayton RS 4ohm work well with horns?

Would ~60 watts for each horn be enough? (looking for a DLS A1 amp for the horns)

Is the cd8445 a capable enough headunit to run active?

Perfect for XXX6.5's

I just recently installed some of the custom VifaXT25 tweeters from ascendant, and I was able to crossover my mids lower (around 1.2-1.6kHz haven't decided where to keep it yet)... and the sound is AMAZING.

It took A LOT of stress off the mids which I used to have do all the way up the 2kHz... they sound clean, accurate, and have great output. By just installing the tweeters, I love the whole setup even more.

So, since the CD2 horns are able to go down reasonably low, I suggest the XXX6.5's to mate with them. Also, the power @2ohms will be perfect.

Ive read several reviews that the XXX mids have incredibly poor performance and arent very good SQ drivers (get loud tho)

I'd like ologys mids, but I have no idea when or if theyre even coming out soon.

would the internal amp in the cd8445 be enough to run horns? It says 4 x 50 watts max...which I highly doubt they put out that, but does it have enough juice to run at least 2 x 16 watts rms?

I knew this was coming. Those reviews are bullshit, period. I challenge ANYBODY to hear my setup...then they'd change their mind.

Seriously, a newly found audio friend of mind... who is hardcore into Home Audio SQ...owns ~$4k pair of stereo mains... loves the current front stage setup. I told him to be blatantly honest with me. He's seen the reviews and thinks it's bull as well.

I dunno, I just think it's bullshit for people to judge without hearing them. BTW mine are in sealed door pods, in ~.2-.25 cubes, with around 200rms per side.

What other options do I have (keeping my horizons open), I'll keep the XXXs in mind. I'd like to stay right around ~100-120$ for both of the mids.

Once again Could I use the cd8445s internal amp for now to power the horns (until I get a DLS A1)

what size would mate best with the horns? If I got 2 I could run them the amp at 2ohm correct? Which would give them each above their RMS. If I ran 2 8s per door with their rated power, I'd be looking at 98dB correct?

midbass

92+6dB (running additional driver with RMS to each driver)

with 170 watts to each door id be looking at

98 @ 1

101 @ 2

104 @ 4

107 @ 8

110 @ 16

113 @ 32

116 @ 64

119 @ 128

170/128= 33% increase, 3dB(.33)=

120dB @ 170 watts @ 2ohms

so I should see about ~120 dB rms correct?

horns

109 @ 1

112 @ 2

115 @ 4

118 @ 16

120dB @ 27.5 watts @ 8ohms

27.5/16= ~66% increase, 3dB(.66)=

27-28 watts per horn would balance with the 2 8s, theoretically?
