Running active in a Truck

Well i dont have too much experience with front stage installs. Im attempting to run an active front stage with 2 7 inch dayton mids per side with one vifa xt-25 per side. Im looking to see what other options are out there. im not looking to compete in sq but i defianntly want a very sweet and good looking install.

dont have an amp yet so power and all that is up for grabs id like to spend about 300 total for the mids and tweets

You have the drivers already? Do you have an x-over network, or a head unit that can run active?

no im lookin at some alpine hu to run active... dont have any gear yet.

I'd try to pick up a 9887, they are extremely easy to use, and can be had for 250~. I had one when i was runnin 2 way up front, and i loved it.

If you're talking about the Dayton RS180 7" driver, then I don't like that combo. The XT25 doesn't extend down low enough to mate up well with the RS180. I'd pick a different tweeter. The Seas Neo tweeter is a much better option for that application, and is still around the same price as the XT25.

yea ill probably have a 10 or 12 or something like that to back it up as far as a woofer. not goin for too loud just good sounding clean looking install. i think im gonna go ahead and order that setup here in the next couple days unless i find something better

Look around there, they have some excellent stuff.

Also, take a look at http://www.zaphaudio.com for some useful information on tweeters, and 6.5"s. This site helped me choose what to buy.

hey jeeper, i have no experience with any alpine Hu, but i do know that the pioneer 880 is super nice, it might be a little time consuming to get everything tweaked, but man are there unlimited options to mess with. I love that unit and when i get my reg cab i think i am going to do that Hu, my CDT comps in the door, and probably some id8v3s in the rear speaker locations. Along with all the deadening and my IDQ10v3.

The 9855 looks to be a good choice, specially if you got a good deal on it. Looking forward to what you do for speaker placement. Currently I am considering putting the woofers in the doors in the factory location and then putting the tweeters up on the top of the dash fired at the driver and passenger. Seems to be soo many choices for location though. I just don't want to do kick panels, cause well I WILL kick them lol.

Where are you thinking of putting the drivers? and are you doing to try and get them on axis or off axis? Guessing that depends more on driver selection though.

well i plan on mounting them in the door, but i dont have any factory locations in the door and soo im just gonna glass over the existing panel with a flushmount setup or just maek a whole new panel
