Rubber surround vs Foam..what do you prefer and why?

Ok guys thanks I just feel like the rubber surrounds last longer and are less prone to wearing thin and tearing....but I admit i could be wrong and it may just be in my head....maybe all the stripper perfume in this building is finally getting to me lol

only issue is that rubber will dimple at high excursion, it looks like its hurting it but it really doesn't matter. But honestly, the surround is the last thing you should worry about. Most important is the coil and spiders.

Do they make it in an 8"?
I ask because when the foam on my 8w6's crap out, I may like to try rubber....
Considering I had this one custom made... probably not lol

I have a ton of more tests and including longevity to see how it holds up. I'm adjusting the spider currently so it will have to wait until I get that part fixed how I want it.

Custom.....

Do you think it would be possible to have something custom made for my app?

There are generic foam surrounds that will fit the 8w6 but they do not allow for enough excursion. Its only the 8's. They have the correct surrounds for the 10's and up.

I can get you the measurements of the generic foams as they fit fine, just not a large or tall enough roll.

I also think back to how many subs ive had and how many of the ones with foam surrounds end up tearing because something in the trunk hit it and how many with rubber surrounds took a better beating. Sure I should have been more carefull and not let stuff hit the sub or rest against it...once it was the pipe on my nitro rc truck another time it was the guard on my helmet and once a wrench fell behind the seat in my lightning and i didnt know it...couple hours of bassing the sound got muddy and i titled the seat to find the surround had pretty much turned to dust after being cut by the open end of the wrench and it flexing against it and the seat lol.
