this amp has been through many subs.. i baught it off my friend because he was afraid of it... its a monster that keeps killing subs.. and i figured it was clipping them, i found that out my self when i clipped my alpine type r.. so now the question is what do i do to prevent this?

i went through the gain tournal and have a question.. all it is telling you to do is to turn ur HU on the max you play it at and mess with your gain on your amp, and when it reaches the voltage that is in the diagram, thats the highest my amp can hit the sub without doing any damage?

what i normally do is, set hu to approx 80%, right now thas like 27 outta 33

this is with the gain ALL the way down, and turn it up till i hear some distortion then turn it back down a little bit, havent killed anything........yet lol

just a quick question, how many watts are/were u sendin that type r?

it sounds niceee, i think better then my type r sounded so far and i havent even hit it hard yet... or that could just be because i have the bahn in a ported box and i had the alpine in a sealed... i dunno, but for everyone talkin $hit bout audiobahn i think it sounds pretty good for the price... also to answer the other question i had the gain 3/4 up and the volume at about 23 oh my HU when i blew up the alpine so id say about 750w... wow that thing had 2 be flexing 3 inches, then it started smokein haha

ok i tryed doing the gain thing where you set your amp to the max voltage that is stated, well i did that 1000w @2ohm = 44.7v and my sub barley hits at all WTF!?

There is your problem right there. You have no clue what your doing and were abusing that type-r. Some one call the SPS.

yea that was an accident, i wasent paying attention when i was leaving the parking lot at school.. until my friend was liek what is that smell, it was over by then... that wont happen again though

yeah i guess, cuz that sub can POUND i never saw a sub hit crazy like that alpine, when i turn my hu up, i ususlly turn my remote bass down, and kinda for got too.. tons of people have been saying ive been clipping my subs but i dunno!?? i did what the jl site said and it think my amp only dishes out liek 200watts now, i cant live like that so i had 2 crank it back up

Just do it like this. Turn up the radio to the loudest you listen to it. Then start to turn the gain up untill the speakers reach there limits. IE distortion, excurssion. If it is still not loud enough for you. Then you are expecting more than your equipment is capable of. Or your box might have somthin to do with it. Most of the time it is the box that makes people think there system is not loud.

ok so the best thing i should do is keep the gain on full also keep the gain of the remote bass on full and just mess with the gain on the HU, because i do have a 0-15 subwoofer gain on my HU, i should just adjust my bass with that?!
