RMS wattage question

Novices will have no clue what clamped power means. Best thing to do is to match amp rms with sub rms, assuming using quality equipment that's not overrated. Many here calculate in parasitic loss and box rise, running many more watts than the subs are rated at. Experience is key and giving out willy nilly info can lead to damaged equipment for beginners.
I didnt mean for the info to confuse the OP its just always been a legitimate question of mine. Sorry to OP.

I prefer to run more watts than needed. Many of the well built quality subs are actually underated and can take the abuse assuming one knows how to correctly set the gain, knows what distortion sounds like, and what burning coils smell like. If you have anything in particular in mind then please feel free to start a new thread. Things get so jumbled into other threads or people don't want to start their own thread for fear of sounding "stupid". I like to think there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. Since the search doesn't work then I say make as many threads as needed. I wonder if it wasn't disabled on purpose.

Don't hate me for this answer, but your HU + Speaker combo will probably sound the best with the loudness ON on your HU if you don't amplify those 6x9s. There's some variables and tuning to consider if you're running with loud on if you have a sub also. Don't quote me on this, but I bet a lot of people fry their electrical system blaring their music, untuned, with the loud feature on. Tuning by ear and sight--with a little math and DMM so you don't kill your alternator--works wonders for the daily driver.

Those HU with rms power aren't meant to blow the doors off....but rather give the lisentner a little power to listen to music while stuck in traffic or on the way to the store. Or just cruising. Now if it's possible, an amp might and will be ideal as it's more power and clean as well. Choosing a good quality amp will be a very good idea.
