Amp : JBL Club 5501

(RMS 550)

I wired the system myself . Set the gain myself . I have a few questions .

My amp has only 3 settings : gain / bass boost / and frequency

Gain set to 31.24 Volts/ frequency is maxed out/ no bass boost

When I was overpowering my sub at 35 36 it was hitting way harder .

Now it's still really good for what it's worth but I still want more bass coming out of it.

I turned the HPF on the head unit to 50 hz and turned the loudness and other little settings up to maximize the bass along with no distortion from the door speakers .

Is it acceptable to overpower a sub by how much and any other tips and tricks would be great thank you .

is sub dvc4ohm?, if not u may only be getting 1/2 amp power.. what box do u have ported or sealed?, does hu have sub rca output (is that where rcas are hooked up) if not and u have rcas plugged to front or rear and u set hpf to 50 u just killed all low freqs to sub.. as far as gain u r supposed to match gain to hu gain with multimeter (I haven't don't it just have it set 1/2 way not the right way but I would think if u have it set much higher than that it would be wrong) I would turn loudness off hu and just use maybe 4db bass boost on amp (lower freq probably and won't bother front speakers) I just set my bass on hu at +1 on some rock songs real hard bass songs I leave it on 0.. also is your amps lp xover on and set to 85-110hz (if not do that!)
