RL-P12s Whats the deal.

check the results from the great 12" subwoofer challenge, I think we had one there and i thought it sucked,
You're entitled to your opinion.

Many others disagree //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Most of whom have more than 1days experience with them.

it looks cheap too,
Mine wasn't built cheaply and didn't perform cheaply.

they do overheat also if iy was the same woofer.
I'm not even sure what that means.

For daily driving; they have a pretty reasonable power handling. Mine had no problem with 800w daily.

I wouldn't push it past 1.2kw for daily driving though.

I don't tend to keep up with products that aren't worth a shite.
The Rl-p definitely does not fall into the "not worth a shit" category.

i agree, and its probably because i'm a bass head, but i'm just saying that if you are just looking for spl, theres probably other better performing subs out there for the money,
From a sheer output perspective I would agree. They weren't designed for pure-SPL appications. So if that's your ONLY goal...yeah, I would look elsewhere.

But they aren't "quiet". For all but true bassheads, they'll have more than adequate output (well beyond "realistic" levels) with great SQ.

I'm running 2 RL-P 15's in small ported boxes and love em. SQ is excellent and they'll get plenty loud for a DD.

I've demoed for a few local guys, mostly who had 2-3 JL's sealed and the SQ and output killed em. That was what THEY told me and I couldn't argue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

There's louder out there and better sounding, but for the $$$ it's a VERY good SQL sub. I plan on buying more in the future for another install.

It just seems to me for the money you could get an Alpine type-x. I really want to try em, it just seems like with PG sd12d and Xs its a rough compairson.

you could get 2 rsd's for the price of a x...everyone that has owned the x can't stop raving about how low it goes...but i'd imagine two rsd's with 2g's rms on them would wang harder...from what pg fanatics say anyways...

I own 2 12's that are in 1.5 cu ft sealed each and they can wang pretty hard when i want them too. As many people have said it isnt intended for SPL so if that is what you want go some other route. The SQ is amazing, plays lows well and keeps up with the double bass. I plan on changing back to my Mag's when i get some more upgrades but for now they are an excellent subwoofer. I would say they are worth every penny I paid for them.
