ok im setting my gains on my amp by ear, no meters. but ive noticed before, and today also, that when the bass is playing, the bass will cut way down.. u can barely hear it, then it will go back up to normal again. is this amp clipping? dirty power? i have it bridged, its a 350watt rms sub and when the amp is bridged its 1x600 bridged. i only have the low pass set at maybe half way, and the input level is maybe 3/4 of the way up. the high pass is at 40 out of 3k (i dont use it in HPF, or full. i use it on LPF) the RCA are in the line input spots, top and bottom. bass boost on the amp is on, (on/off switch) and i have an external bass boost that connects to the amp (0db-18db octave) and i belive its at around maybe 14. the headunit bass is sometimes -2 and sometimes at 0. i prefer -2 but i havent set the gains for it yet. thats how i have it as of now, im not done setting it all up im doing it by ear so itll take a while but the bass keeps getting real low, then going back to normal and i dont know why.

yea. uh anybody. i understand nobody likes to help anyone if theyre "new" to car audio but jesus christ how the **** do u expect people to learn. u read and ASK QUESTIONS

yea sorry. im in a bad mood. my brand new sub sounds like hell, when ive heard nothing but good reviews about it. my driver side window is going nuts, when it rolls up it wobbles back and fourth, me and my wife are fighting. my computer keeps rebooting on its own. im having a very bad electrical day.

not anyones fault so dont take it out on anyone else

but anyway make sure the wires everywhre are secure like grounds and all that goodstuff make sure every connection is solid and strong other then that try turnin all the gains andfilters to the off or lowest setting and see whre that gets u

all you need to do is get up go make a ham sandwhich and not just any sandwhich but the best you've ever made. load it with a pack of ham, a mountain of lettuce, cut a whole tomatoe and slap that on and drench it in mayo and ranch, add some cheese and bacon. toasted bread preferably. and enjoy. you will fill so much better. thats what i did and all my troubles went down the shitter (literally)

when you come back there should be some responses

bass boost equal MAJOR clipping (especially as high as you have it).

when it cuts out, are you playing it loud? for extended periods? does the amp get hot?

some amps have protection that will sense thermal overload (too hot) and cut back power until the temp is back under control.

this saves the amp from being blown when people don't know how to adjust the settings properly.

if it does it randomly and at low volumes i'd guess it's some sort of loose connection.

I second that
