RL-p 15 My thoughts

Well I have completed the build for my single RL-p 15. Here is my set-up. 2.2^ft box with 3/4 inch MDF.

Rockford fosgate power T5002 bridged at 2 ohms.

MB 2005 SL 500 convertible.

Stock Bose intergration/nav/audio/sat/phone/dvd system.

I started my quest for just a little base punch so I added a JL WO 10 in a small ported box. I used an old kenwood amp with admittedly poor results. Next I purchased the T5002 and a Infinity Kappa perfect 12.1d; built a 1^ft sealed enclosure and enjoyed it. The base was deep and crisp but not foundation rattling. Sound quality was excellent. It kept up with base drums as well as the base guitar. I still wanted more.

Enter Mike from Soundsplinter. I wanted something I could give 500 to 700 watts RMS in a daily driver; faithfully reproduce the music of the lowest octaves, and respond well to jazz as well as rap and R&B. After recieving my RL-p 15 I was first impressed with the packaging and shear weight. A solidly built driver in every sense of the word. Since my trunk space if limited I had to design an enclosure that would not only fit but be easily removeable as the wife likes to use the trunk for shopping at times. The standard rectangular box would not fit and give the 2^ft volume. So I built a square tube of sorts.

What about the sound Doc? Well the depth of base matched the infinity but the vibrance! The clarity was a little less than the infinity not quite as sharp but the RL-p stood head and shoulders above the infinity in its vibrance. It POUNDS. The quality is wonderful for a 15 inch sub. The fun factor chest rattling base makes the hair stand up on my head. On jazz it made the base come alive. Country and western sounded real, and soft rock was just sweet.

All in all I like this sub very much. It is well worth the cost. I hope this review was helpful

makes the sub think the box is bigger than it already is.

It helps INSANELY with low end, and it costs like 5 dollars for a huge ass bag of it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif Totally worth it.
