Me and a bunch of friends are plannin to float the guadalupe river down here in texas in a few weeks. We want to have some music blarin while we're on a our 7 hour float to entertain ourselves and anyone else around us. Anyone had any experience with buildin a lil system for a raft that can take a lil water here and there and maybe even a total submersion in case of a flip over?? I was thinkin maybe a 10-12 cu ft box packed with some decent coaxials, cd player, amp, and i'm guessin a 12v battery will be needed. Not sure how to get all this started. For instance, how many speakers, could subs work, would i need marine speakers, how long would the battery last, how big of an open air box? Any ideas??? Figure y'all here would know just as well as anyone....

I know at Tailgate parties here at LSU we Use a cooler as a speaker enclosure. All You need is some decent waterproof Coaxes and a decent water proof hu or one of those protectors that slides over the face. If you use a large coleman cooler you dont have to worry about wet wood. Also you can completly seal the cooler that way the rears of the speakers and HU wont get wet, and if you decide to use an amp (i wouldnt because it would cut your battery life). And lastly get a small to medium size marine batter (deep Cycle) and stick it in the bottom of the cooler. And there you have it the ultimate "Ghetto Blaster"

Not a bad idea! Thanks. Anyone else have experience with this stuff?? Last time i went to the river there was a group who had a rather large box filled with probably 6 coaxials (POS sony's) and i'm guessin they had to have had some type of amplificaiton because it was ridiculously loud and pretty clear for a bunch of sonys.

Any more ideas....anyone heard of a t-amp??? i know there has to be other ways to amplify sound besides a car audio amp... i know someone here has to have done somethin crafty before...
