reversing phase

I was just wondering when I should set the sub phase on my HU to reverse? my amp has a 180 phase switch also. do I turn the HU to reverse and the amp when my polarity is reversed? or do these settings reverse the polarity without changing cords? if so, do I just set the amp and leave the HU or do I set them both? as you can see I'm rather lost here

You would almost never need to change the phase of the subwoofer. I don't know why they have these phase knobs on most sub amps now-a-days. The only time most people change phase is on tweeters or some other smaller speaker that is getting overpowered by another speaker or throwing the sound stage off.

You don't need to mess with the phase. No offense but if you don't know why you need it you probably shouldn't mess with it.

subs are only out of phase if they are wired wrong

You won't hurt anything by trying the phase adjustment. If it sounds better reversed then leave it that way.

Either flip on the HU, flip on the amplifier, or flip the polarity physically.

that's exactly what I thought, thank you. the HU would be best for quick back and forth for best judgment, thanks guys
