I have not installed a system since 2006. I just picked up a 2010 Ford Edge that has the steering wheel controls for the factory radio. I really like them and would love to retain their use when I install my older 2003 Alpine 9813. Any way to do this or does the headunit have to be built with this ability????

Looks like the Alpine 9813 is a little to old to work with a SWI. Gonna have to do without the steering wheel controls cuz I love this old headunit.

i recently sold a 9811, and looking at the pictures i don't see the small jack on the back for the SWI. and I now remember that i installed a 9851 instead of that one specifically because of the SWI-Jack and desire for steering wheel controls.

good times...
