Reputable small form factor (< 18" length) monoblock amp?

old outdated information that needs to die period. We have brazilians doing .125 ohm burps now.
Okay, I'm all ears now. So, Stetsom/Taramp is good stuff after all? This sounds familiar: I remember hearing a few years ago that Taurus was actually good stuff in spite of the criticism, and my Raging Bull revolver that I then bought would lock up and the cylinder extract wouldn't work. I'm kind of wary and gun-shy (pun not intended) when I hear criticisms of Brazilian engineering.

I've ran stetsom with zero issues at all. My friend has been using his taramps 8K over a year no problems. My good friend is the Maryland record holder in his class and he uses stetsom amps.

Meh, the 4000 is too expensive and 2 of the 2000's wouldn't fit in the rack area. I may need to look at 2 TS 1.8kW's under the seats or something, ugh.
the mmats m2000 i posted would be much easier to fit under a seat. very small 9.5x10.5

Yea, They dont like high voltage or anything fancy. But the people that run them swear by them

well the crown of the world record db drag title aka loudest amplifier brand in the world currently belongs to sound digital.

Before it was idiots that buy taramps without reading the clear instructions in fine print not to wire low and not to mount on the sub box which caused those issues. They were not designed for subwoofer duty at all from the start.

So what did taramps do? They idiot/child proofed their amps for the US market. board bracing for vibrations, Being able to wire to half ohm, better advanced protection circuitry along with gearing it for subwoofer duty rather than its original intended use for midrange/midbass.

Okay, so it sounds as if you have some good knowledge here. The HD, then, would theoretically be okay for box-mounted sub duty and put out rated power @ 1 ohm given sufficient electrical, while remaining durable?: base – Taramps

to be honest, korean or brazilian i would never mount my amp to my sub enclosure ever. plenty of koreans and chinese amps die that way as well. longevity wise any amp you buy will probably end up in smoke within the first year enclosure mounted. Had a case with a CT 7000, DC 7.5k locally that mounted their amps to their boxes that blew.

Okay, appreciate the advice. The good news is that I believe these will fit under either seat.

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on Taramps, but I have another noob-ish question: with the HD8000.1 only being about $75 more than the HD5000.1 would it make sense to go with the HD8000.1 and wire it to 2 ohms on my system? Less stress/heat, I'm thinking, or is that a bad idea for some reason? Taramps says 5.3-6.4kW at 2 ohms for the HD8000.1 on 12.6VDC and 13.8VDC, respectively.

there's the hd 8000 2 ohm version which does power at 2 ohms. Just keep gains low but yes the 8k is where the price to performance ratio shines.

What I mean is: my system dictates about 5kW max (330A alternator + I'm about to get an AGM31). With this in mind, I could get the 8000 and just use a 2-ohm config so that it theoretically won't pull much more than my truck can supply. I was thinking 'why not' since it may be less stress on the amp to run 60% of rated power and it only +$75. Or would this be a big no-no for some reason to run an 8k with only a 5kW-ish capable electrical, even if wired to a higher impedance?

you wont be pulling max current at all times. Your gain setting dictates how much power you use. Get the bigger amp with most power and set gains till your voltages drop to around 12.8 volts.

Just because its 8000 at 2 ohms doesnt mean you have to use 8000. Its already less stress on the amp when its barely lifting a finger to put out barely any power due to the amount of headroom it has, you dont have to get a 1 ohm amp and limit yourself to 2 ohm power.

Also need to account for box rise as well so you'll be right where you need to be at.

@Patricio

I'm seemingly in the same situation. I just got a 320a alt for my car and was looking into something to utilize it. Along with my g34 under the hood.

Taramps seemed very attractive.

As far as I know they have the DSP series which is nice for setting max clip and digital cross overs.

Apparently the newest amps are the new small form factor hds I've seen a video with good short protection on a small 3k.

I was under the impression I'd only be able to run ~3k with the 320amp alt and 1/0 run of ofc so I was looking into the 3k or 5k(trying to get 3k after rise.)

The concerns I had with taramps were.

I heard you can't set gain using a multimeter and currently my subs aren't rated for the full 3k so I'd be guessing on the power id be sending them if I got a bigger amp for headroom.

I don't understand how they can get 3800w @ 14.4v out of 150-175 amps because even at 100% efficiency 175 amps times 14.4v is 2520w. To Me that seems like they can't logically do rated.

Lastly being full range amplifiers (except for the bass series and maybe the 8k and 15k I believe.) Do they perform as well as say a Korean designed only for sub 100hz?

Just sharing some information as I'm in a very similar situation. Let me know with what you go with and how you like it! I'm still a little ways out from buying my amp.

have no knowledge but everyone I here says they are great. put out power.
Im still thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these amps just to try out.Ive heard that these amps serve well, though I havent heard about the sub staging as of yet.Really like the foot print and fan induction on them. I ran a thread on asking about these amps and there is a well known member that was about to fire up the sub stage on his system.PowerHomie I believe.. he is always doing something big and new

Update: I pulled the trigger on a Taramps HD8000.1 1 ohm model on eBay. The price was so good that I had to jump on it. I still haven't decided on subs but I'll update everyone when I get everything together and installed.
