Amplifier does not work above certain voltage

Amplifier does not work above approximately 12.8 volts DC, but does work just fine at 12.5 volts down in the 11 volt range. It is a Lepai 2020A+. Is there some sort of electronic component I can put in-line that limits the voltage input from the battery? It is supposed to work in the range of 10v - 14.4v DC. I bought it at Parts Express and they won't refund my money on this amp because 45 days have passed since I purchased it.

Thanks

Gunnar
