Replacing the gear for the motorized face on HU?

Hey I was just wondering how easy/hard it is to replace a broken gear. It's the gear that moves the face plate to change cd's, or put it on tilt. The HU is an older alpine..

note that it's not my head unit, just one I was thinking about buying..

If anyone has some info or knows about this, please let me know.
