replacing subs

I currently have 2 subs and i just got a single sub to replace it. I dont have the wood to cover the second hole with. Will it damage my sub if i leave one of my old subs in the box, but dont hook it up, while i use my new one.

wouldnt that be too much airjust for one sub if you were running 2 off the same air or did you go from 2 12'' to 1 15

You might damage your old speaker, I would wait untill you get another box...

I went from 2 12" type r's to a single 12" re xxx. I'm going to wait but what would cause it to damage the sub?
