what's up audio friends, I am trying to figure out a product or DIY where I can replace my stock mic (and preamp circuit?).

It has 4 wire input as seen in the image. The radio is Pioneer ALCP-W13U T10004.

I have been searching around and found some people saying they tried soldering the preamp wires and just replacing the mic head but I never found out how that worked.

I would like to keep some type of preamp if that is what the stereo is expecting. XLR have 3 pins and ground so 4 pins right? Maybe some type of XLR mic might work if I wired it correctly?

thank you so much for any help!

you will need to disassemble the factory mic to see how it's internally configured. you need to figure out the voltage range and the output impedance of the preamp circuit to match up correctly. XLR mics will need 48V phantom power - which you won't have in the car.
