Replacing stock 10 speaker system?

I'm not the best when it comes to wiring and speakers. So, in my GTI it has a stock 10 speaker system.

Front:

2x Tweeter

2x 4inch mid range

2x 8inch mid bass

Back:

2x Tweeter

2x 6.5inch mid range

If I wanted to get more overall loudness/sound quality. Is it possible for me to buy sets of speakers and replace the stock ones and wire them up with an amp? I'm not very good with this stuff, trying to learn.
