Replacing my sub stage. Need suggestions

I'm looking to replace my two obsidian audio 12's in my mazda 3 hatchback. I am trying to scale down to either one 10 or 12 to get some trunk space back but still sound good and decently loud. I've got my eyes on the ssa xcon 10 or 12 while they are on sale. Does anyone have experience with those subs or have any other suggestion that are in that price range?
