replacing half of a high end system?

A friend of mine got a BMW X5 suv that apparently has a 12 speaker audio system in it. Now he was looking to replace just the 4 main speakers(the other 8 have to be small small hidden i'm not sure where) in the front and rear doors, with high end components and put a 4 channel amp on them. Is this ok?

If I replace and amplify just the 2 bigger front and 2 bigger rear new speakers will it still sound ok? Will it affect the sounds from other speakers? Any feedback would be great! Thanks

you prob gonna have to replace everything cuz the internal amp would have to be removed,,,,,or you might be abl to bypass it
