Replacing dust cap, Help please

Hey I have a 12" SI mag claw and am replacing the dust cap due to a dent. I ordered a 5" poly dust cap from PE.com. The original is 5 1/4", a little bigger than the new one. My question is how/what do I use to get the old glue residue off? (since the new cap isn't going to cover it up). Thanks.

Also, what type of goop should I order? I've seen 4 different types of the brand on ebay.

whats your cone made out of ? paper / pressed paper / carbon ?

post up a pic of what your workin with.

and for a shot in the dark - most people use an exacto knife verry carefully to remove the origonal dust cap - so the cone is not hurt at all.

New dust cap on top of the old one ^

Not sure what it's made of....quoted from the website "Mag subwoofers use a proprietary blend of materials in the cone, which yields a very high strength-to-weight ratio."

I talked to Nick Lemons at Stereo Integrity about the dust cap and he said this, "We don't have any original dust caps left for the previous Mag series subwoofers. We do have replacement dust caps similar to the poly dust cap from Parts Express, but you could simply order one from PE and glue it on yourself with Goop (that's literally the product name) after you cut off the factory dust cap."

So I would think the PE dust cap would hold up?
