I want to replace the amp I have now

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3730

-4-channel car amplifier

-70 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (100 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms)

-200 watts RMS x 2 bridged output at 4 ohms (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)

-2-, 3-, or 4-channel output

-variable high-pass/low-pass filters (50-400 Hz, 12 dB/octave)

-tuned Bass EQ (12 dB bass boost at 50 Hz for channels 3 & 4)

-subsonic filter (15 Hz, 24 dB/octave for channels 3 & 4)

-MOSFET power supply

-CEA-2006 compliant

-STAR Topology (minimizes internal noise and prevents ground interference)

-speaker- and preamp-level inputs

-preamp outputs

-gold-plated screw terminals

-fuse rating: 25A x 2

-8-gauge power and ground leads recommended — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier

13-1/4"W x 2-3/8"H x 9-9/16"D

With this better Alpine

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4737

-RMS Continuous Power (14.4V, 20-20k Hz)

-150 Watts x 2 @ 4 Ohm

-150 Watts x 2 @ 2 Ohm

-300 Watts x 1 Bridged into 4 Ohm

-S/N Ratio : 100dBA

-CEA2006 S/N Ratio : 78dBA

-Input Impedance : 10k ohms

-Frequency Response (+0, -1dB) : 20 - 20k Hz

-Crossover Frequency (variable, LPF/HPF/OFF selectable)

-1/2 ch : 30 - 400 Hz (-12dB/oct)

-Input Sensitivity : 0.2 - 4.0V

-Dimensions : 10-1/8" x 2-7/16" x 7-9/16" (WHD)

-Class-D 1/2 Channel Operation

-MOS-FET Power Supply

-MOSFET Final Outputs

-Auto Over-Current Protection

-Unique Stacking Installation

-Quick Connect Speaker Terminal

-High Efficiency Digital Circuit Design

-Variable LP Crossover

-Thermal Management Processor

-Top Mounted Blue LED Power/Status Indicator

-Gold Plated RCA Input Connectors

-Adjustable Crossover (HP/LP/OFF)

-4-Layer Glass Epoxy PC Board

My issue is that I'm running the current amp bridged into stereo to get the 200x2 rms for my components, and the amp keeps overheating. I don't think its truly stable at 4ohm like they claim.

I'm hoping that the better Alpine Amp can push the same amount of power, but run cooler and cleaner...
