Replace my 9855

Sold my old car with my Alpine 9855 and now I need a new head unit solution. Looking for suggestions.

Budget is $1200 or so but would love to spend less. Much less if possible. I was happy with the 9855 and may end up picking up another.

Things that are a must have:

4V or better pre-outs.

Time correction.

Superior sound quality.

Someway to play MP3's, either via mp3 CD or Ipod control.

Extras that would be nice in order of importance:

Knob for Volume.

Built in crossover. Potential to go active.

Built in EQ.

No retarded on-screen animations.

I have a Double DIN opening to work with.

Would not mind getting a McIntosh or Nakamichi headunit if I can get some other seperate piece (processor) to meet my requirements.

You may want to check out the Eclipse CD7000. It meets all of your requirements and IMO, is a superior SQ head unit. I've owned the Alpine 9835 and Kenwood X990 and this unit by far beats both of those for sound quality.

Oh didnt even see that. If you want pics or wanna check it out just let me know. Id prefer to not ship anyway. I'd let it go to a local san ho person for 200. so let me know. it doesnt have the same features as the 9855 but SQ wise is same if not better.

Not really & it doesn't have pro mode from what I've read.

I don't know how much time you spend in your car, but I wish I had a double DIN so I could get the AVIC Z1 by Pioneer. UN-F*ING-BELIEVABLE unit there.
