replace engine?

If it's a 4G63 turbo, when you get your money you need to snap it up quickly; that engine is still in high demand.

And don't discount the junk yards; some specialize in newer stuff. I'm in Dallas and there are plenty of junk yards and import engine shops up here.

I know a good shop where your dad can get the engine exchanged for a rebuilt one locally, and there prices are pretty good.

and get a price.

I would go with a rebuilt or new motor; you don't know what condition a used motor from the internet is in, and new or rebuilt will have a warranty.
