Remote Wiring From CD Deck Problem

sup, i have a Dual XDM6400 CD Deck, and i was putting my amp and subwoofer into the back of my car today, and through alot of trouble, i come to find out that i think the (remote control wire?) from my CD deck that is going into the amp is defective? because i had to bridge the connection from the battery wire to the remote control wire to have my amp start up, and then disconnect the battery wire from the amp so my battery wouldn't die. so i'm guessing it's just a defective wire? and can you point me in the right direction to where i can get a replacement? thanks!

Did you try and connect your remote wire to the ignition wire on the back of the cd player? So your amp will only turn on when you have the cd player on, instead of running all the time?

yeah, i think so? because when my car turns on, my deck turns on, but before i turn my car on, i have to plug in the +(battery wire) into my amp, and then turn my car on for everything to be on, and when i turn my car off, i have to unplug the +(battery wire) to keep my battery from sending power to the amp. like i said, i had to bridge the +(battery wire) to the remote control wire coming from my deck in order for the amp to even turn on?, it's very mind boggling to me. i'm not sure if thats the total problem, because i did try to do everything the right way, putting the +(battery wire), -(ground), remote control wire, in every slot by themselves, and i start my car, and the amp wouldn't turn on, but with the bridge thing, it would? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/pissed.gif.9f665f96bc89e98e708dabd4580bb591.gif

yes, i know this, and i'm trying to get to the point of is the it remote wire that is not working because i have to bridge the connection from the +(battery) to the remote wire input to power the amp.......that means i have to get a new remote wire, and where could i get one??

I'm confused...obviously your amp is working fine because it turns on when the remote terminal has voltage going to it.

Your problem is simply that you don't have any voltage going to your remote wire. Make sure the remote wire is plugged into a switched 12V source, it could be the remote wire that turns on your head unit, the accessory wire, or the ignition wire, anything with 12V that is on when the car is on.

No, if you have the wire connected to a constant 12 V, your amp will always be on, as long as your battery is connected, and until your battery dies. If your deck isn't sending voltage through the remote wire, you need to splice into a switched 12 V. You can find any wire that only outputs voltage when the ignition key is turned on. First, though, check and double-check to make sure you didn't just connect to the wrong wire on the back of your deck.

ok, for instance i have a digital MPH, Gas, ETC. so i would just take the cover off and find a wire that goes into one of those and splice it? , and how would i check/double-check i didn't connect it to the wrong wiring? i had someone else put the deck in for me...what color would the wiring be that the blue(remote wire) would go to?
