remote wire

i am installing my sub and amp right now but when i put the remote wire in, it doesnt turn on the amp. What it does is just turn off my deck, just like i push the off button. It is still lite up and what not.....So can anyone help??

Are you sure its on the remote wire? if you cant fix it run it directly of the Ignition switched wire for the deck.

Are you sure it isn't the ground wire from your Deck? a power wire would turn it on, a ground wouldn't. But, if you grounded out the deck improperly, it would probably auto-turn off.

Is there two remote wires in your HUs wiring harness?

One with a white stripe and one without?

If so the one without the stripe is most likely meant for power antenna activation and only carries current in tuner mode.

If this is the case and you're using the one without the stripe n the insulation switch to the other one and see if it cures your problem

Ok, i hooked it up to the blue and white stripe one.....now it doesnt turn off but i still dont think that amp is getting a signal because it doesnt turn on....even if something is wrong somewhere else wouldnt the power light turn on on the amp just with the remote wire??

NO, The amp needs power and ground, plus the remote wire to turn on. All the remote wire does is send a small amount of power to the amp, i think it's around .30MA. It's pretty much just lets the amp know the Hu is on, So power on.

You should never hook anything up to your amplifier without the ground connected...

And your amp wont turn on with just a remote lead.

im having the same problem you are. my amp wont turn on.

people told me to jump the remote terminal by taking a peice of wire and touched the remote terminal to the battery terminal on the amp. it should turn on. if it does turn on when you jump it, turn off your key in your car and check if the amp is on or off. if it turned off then its your power wire or your inline fuse. i have to change my fuse out tomorrow and see if thats what it is. so far everyones been telling me that it is.

Well my power wire is fine, i touched it against my tool box and i know for sure it is getting power. I will check the ground connection tomorrw to see if that is the problem.

Another way to check is to buy a $3 multimeter.
